PRESENTATION
Unespar’s Master Degree Program in Film and Video Arts was approved by Capes in October 2018 and began its activities in 2019.
It is a stricto sensu graduate program with emphasizing Theories and Processes in Film and Video Arts, which enables research in the field of Arts taking cinema and/or video as convergence objects of theoretical-analytical reflections and/or artistic activities.
Such research must be based on thoughts and practices based on the foundations of film and video arts and the relationship with other fields of knowledge.
CONCENTRATION AREA
The PPG-CINEAV is linked to the concentration area of Theories and Processes in Film and Video Arts, which bring together research in the field of Arts, taking film and video as objects of convergence of theoretical-analytical reflections and artistic activities, proposed from thoughts and practices established in the field of film and video as well as in approximation with other areas of knowledge.
RESEARCH LINES
1) Theories and Discourses in Film and Video Arts - in this theoretical-analytical research line, Film and Video Arts are taken eminently as forms of meaning production. That is, discourses produced in specific social, historical, and cultural contexts.Therefore, we gather research that allows several approaches to analyzing the discourses that constitute themselves in Film and Video Arts - both in artistic productions and in theorizing efforts - to be put into reflection.
2) Creative Processes in Film and Video Arts - in this line of research, film and audiovisuals are based on the creative processes in artistic activities. Therefore, those are studies that involve reflection on film and video making, which may be associated with creative concepts, technological processes, or performing actions.
PROGRAM MISSION
To generate and disseminate knowledge in the Arts area, specifically in Film and Video Arts, through artistic-scientific research in order to contribute to a more democratic, critical, sensitive, and respectful society of human and environmental diversity, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The training provided by the PPG-CINEAV aims to fulfill the need for artistic-scientific training of individuals from different areas. As such, it offers a stimulating environment for the qualified production and dissemination of artistic-scientific knowledge regarding Film and Video Arts, and some possible interfaces. In this sense, the main goal of this program is to qualify professionals at an academic level capable of:
- producing and disseminating artistic-scientific knowledge in the subareas of Film and Video Arts;
- acting in higher education, as well as in other levels of education and different areas of activity in the artistic-cultural field, within the scope of Film and Video Arts processes based on theoretical and artistic subsidies that allow a thorough reading of the aesthetical, ethical, historical, and social issues involved in these arts;
